Baked marinated tofu
These tasty cubes of baked marinated tofu can be added to stir fries, fried rice, or noodle dishes. They can also be scattered into salads and soups, used as a sushi roll or rice paper roll filling, or even eaten hot as an appetizer or cold as a snack.

2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon finely grated fresh ginger
1 clove garlic—minced
¼ teaspoon five-spice powder
10 oz (300g) firm tofu

MIX together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, water, sesame oil, ginger, garlic and five-spice powder in a bowl until combined. CUT the tofu into small cubes and toss with the marinade to coat. MARINATE the tofu in the refrigerator, covered, for at least two hours. PREHEAT the oven to 400F/200C. PLACE the marinated tofu cubes on a lightly greased oven tray and bake for 20 minutes, turning halfway through cooking.

Variation: Replace the oyster sauce with hoisin sauce.
