How to peel and devein shrimp


 

 



Remove the head

While holding the body of the shrimp, squeeze and pull the head off.


Remove the shell and legs

Peel the shrimp shell and legs from the body.


Remove the end of the tail (optional)

If you're removing the end of the tail (it's often left on for presentation purposes) hold the body and squeeze off.


Score the back of the shrimp

With a sharp knife, score down the back of the shrimp.


Remove the digestive tract

Remove the thin, dark digestive tract with the tip of the knife.
